Ya Muridan Fuzdabih (O Disciple, by Him, you have succeeded) - Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa al-Alawi ash-Shadhili ق
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ
وَالْحَبِيب رَسُولُ اللَّه
There is no God except Allah.
And the beloved is Rasulullah ﷺ
يَا مُرِيدًا فُزْتَ بِه
بَادِرْ وَاقْصُدْ مَنْ تَهْوَاه
O Disciple, by Him, you have succeeded
Hasten and aspire, those who yearn Him
إِنْ أَرَدْتَ تَفْنَى فِيه
لَا تَصْغَ لِمَا عَدَاه
If you seek, you will be annihilated, in Him
Do not listen to anyone else, except Him
حَضِّرْ قَلْبَكْ فِي اِسْمِه
شَخِّصْهُ وَافْهَمْ مَعْنَاه
Make your heart present, with His Name
Manifest and understand the meaning of "He"
وَجِّهْ وَجْهَكْ لِوَجْهِه
وَاهْتَزَّ اشْتِيَاقًا لَه
Direct your face, to His Face
Quiver from intense love, for Him
اِخْفِضِ الطَّرْفَ لَدَيْه
وَانْظُرْ فِي ذَاتِكْ تَرَاه
Lower your self where you are, by His Side
Look at your self, you shall see Him
أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنْ حُسْنِه
تَاللَّهِ لَسْتَ سِوَاه
Where will you be in His Manifest Beauty
By Allah, you do not exist, except Him
إِنْ قِيلَ مَنْ تَعْنِي بِه
صَرِّحْ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللَّه
If it is said who do you mean by Him
Declare and say: He is Allah
أَنَا فِيه فَانِي بِه
يَرَانِي كَمَا نَرَاه
I am annihilated in Him, by Him
He sees me, as we see Him
لَا نَرْضَى بَدَلًا بِه
أَهْلُ الْهَوَى فِيهِ تَاهُوا
We are never pleased for any exchange, for Him
People of Desire lost, in Him
سُكَارَى حَيَارَى فِيه
صَرَّحُوا بِهِ وَفَاهُوا
Intoxicated and lost, in Him
They declared Him and uttered "He"
هُوَ قَصْدِي لَا نُخْفِيه
دَوْمًا قَلْبِي مَا يَنْسَاه
He is my want, we do not make it a secret.
Never has my heart forgotten Him
تَارَةً يُفْنِينِي فِيه
يَظْهَرُ عَنِّي بِسَنَاه
Sometimes He annihilates me, in Him
made manifest to me, by His Radiance
تَارَةً يُبْقِينِي بِه
فَنَقُولُ أَنَا لَا هُو
Sometimes He subsists me, in Him
So we say "I" and not "He"
هُوَ هُوَ قَصْدِي فِيه
رُوحِي وَذَاتِي تَهْوَاه
He He, my want, in Him
My soul and my being yearn, for Him
اللَّه اللَّه نَعْنِي بِه
كُلُّ نُطْقِي بِسَنَاه
Allah Allah is what we meant
Every speech by His Radiance
حِبِّي حِبِّي لَا نُرِيه
نَخْشَى مِنْهُ كَيْ نَلْقَاه
My love my love we do not expose it
We fear Him so that we can meet Him
